New Year Guidance

Blessed New Year Friends!

This is such an extraordinary time in my life. Starting this blog is truly a blessing because I believe, through Lady Bookworm, I can reach the masses. My intention is to reach you all differently. I think we have forgotten the vitality that lies within reading. I intend on reviving that. Books can reveal so much. Knowing our worth, our history, and how truly special we are.

I felt it necessary to make my first post about daily reflections...

I purchased a book titled, "Daily Reflections for Highly Effective People" by Stephen R. Covey. I made this purchase in March 2015. I shared the excerpts with my second family at the Fontainebleau, daily. I highly recommend making this purchase. If you have heard of Stephen R. Covey and Franklin Covey then I guarantee that you have certainly heard of the personal growth staple, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". Daily Reflections for Highly Effective People sums up a different habit with each day and these habits can apply to various areas of your life. I started off by reading the reflections when I had a rough or aggravating day at work until it became habit to just pick up the book first thing in the morning and read that day's reflection. Once my habit became the norm I started sharing the reflections at my team's daily line-ups, which went over quite well. These habits teach you that you control your destiny and you carry your own weather. Therefore, if you are having a difficult day reflecting on your control over all situations will help you change your weather.

I highly recommend this purchase. Not only will this book ground and balance you but it is also cost effective! Books are getting so expensive these days but this little gem was found on the Best Sellers table at B&N for just $6.98!! What a steal for the lifetime of guidance that this will provide you with.

Here is today's reflection for [January 1st] "If we want to change a situation, we first have to change ourselves. And to change ourselves effectively, we first have to change our perceptions."

Secondly, I purchased a journal titled, "My Daily Gratitude Journal". It intrigued me. I immediately decided that I wanted to commit to this beginning 1.1.16. It is so easy for us to get caught up in the constant ups and downs that life throws our way. A way to constantly ground your self or find balance through this journey is to remember why you are grateful.

At the end of each day I will sit and write one thing that I was grateful for throughout that day. This will allow me to focus on the negative less. You can find a picture of my journal below.

So fellow bookworms, first things first is go and get a gratitude journal! It doesn't have to be labeled that exactly. It could simply be a notebook that you have laying around. Reflect daily on what you are grateful for. It is so important. Also, at the end of the year you can look back and reflect on all things that made your year special.

Secondly, I urge you all to read "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" as well as purchase the "Daily Reflections for Highly Effective People"

Give Thanks for you all stopping by and reading what I have reflected on!

I truly appreciate it :)

With Love,

Lady Bookworm
