"Follow Your Personal Legacy..."
Today's post is on The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. There is so much hype surrounding this book that my best friend, Kristie, and I were beyond ecstatic to get a hold of what we thought was going to be a gem. We decided that we would form a reading club amongst ourselves; this was kind of the birth of Lady Bookworm. We would read and then discuss the book together. We both, individually as well as together, knew so many people that lived by this book and highly recommended it. I am not sure if this is what let us down. Often times you may hear, "no expectations, no disappointments...". This phrase is so true. I personally think that if we didn't have this preconceived expectation that this novel was going to be phenomenal then maybe we wouldn't have been so disappointed in the outcome.
Now, please don't let this confuse you. The moral and gist of the story is great and it is a true moral to have in real life. You should follow your personal legacy. Basically, everything you want and need is close to home but you should still follow your heart. It will lead you to where you need to be. One of my favorite quotes in the book is the following:
"when you want something, the whole universe will
conspire together to help you get it..."
I do believe that to be true but I also believe that we, as individuals, being apart of the universe play our role in creating our destiny and bringing things to fruition. We have much more control than we know.
Like I said, the moral is real and true to life however the flow of the story and the way the author delivered it kind of let me know. It isn't a total buzzkill and I do recommend that if you have time then you should read however it it wouldn't be at the top of my list.
You can pick this up at any barnes and nobles, target, etc. You can also order it online via amazon, load it to your kindle/ipad, or purchase on iBooks :)
Have any of you read this book? If so, share your thoughts. I would love to hear from you all :)
