Hoping you all are doing well since you last visited :)
We are of course kicking the week off with our #WBW. We have been featuring some phenomenal women lately and would love your feedback on how it's been received.
This week we've added another beauty to our roster who possesses so much more than what's on the surface. Meet Denyque Dontré...
Denyque, or Deny as we like to call her, is an aspirer and influencer. She wears many hats. Denyque serves as a Singer/Songwriter, TV Presenter, Sports Anchor, & Marketer hailing from the beautiful island of Jamaica. If you're from Jamaica or familiar with the happenings there then you've come across Denyque at some point. If not, you'll get to know her, starting here, and will probably fall in love with her too!
Check out our brief interview with her below:
Denyque, what are your passions in life?:
My passions are love, life, art, instilling knowledge, truth & love in the lives of others; helping them to be true to and love themselves and to constantly strive to be better versions of themselves - to embrace Growth & Glowth.
Do you have a favorite author? If so, who?:
Dr. Seuss.. do you really have to ask why....
What are your top 5 favorite books?:
1. Trying to Sleep In the Bed You Made by Virginia DeBerry & Donna Grant
2. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
3. Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
4. Cat In The Hat by Dr. Seuss
5. Harry Potter (All 7) by J. K. Rowling
Have the books that you listed above helped shape or mold you into the women that you are today?: Yes, they have and this is how...
Book #1 - Trying to Sleep In the Bed You Made by Virginia DeBerry & Donna Grant
I had a similar experience where a friend/sister is concerned.
Book #2 - Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
I read in Grade 9 and it spiraled me into a state of conspiracy theorism for several years lol. It really grabbed my attention - the whole knowledge of the unknown and just learning about the wonders of what were, are and what's to be. Yea, I was born in the wrong era. I know. Lol.
Book #3 - Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
Because we're all mad here...lol
Book #5 - Harry Potter (All 7) by J. K. Rowling
JK Rowling (Harry Potter) reminded me how important it is to always believe that anything is possible and there is no way that us as we exist as humans are the only race in the entire Universe. Until they are disproved (and even after they are) I'll always believe that witches, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and dragons - among other 'supernatural' beings exist.
What is the one book that you would read over and over again?:
Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
Why are books important to you?:
Books provide an escape from 'the real world'. Everytime I read a book, I visualize every line and I get so lost in it that I become one of the characters. When the book ends, I'm either upset or elated, but with either emotion I'm electrified with knowledge.
As always Bookworms...thank you kindly for journeying with us!
We hope you enjoyed getting to know Denyque through her love for reading and influencing others to do so.
Check back next week for our next #WBW...
