I hope you all are doing amazing :)
As usually, you know why we are here lol ( I hope you all are liking this concept of the weekly bookworm! I would love your feedback...)
This week I bring to you another beauty who has brought our community together through her platform, Fros & Beaus, LLC. Introducing to you all Ms. Joiya Cloud. Check out my interview with her below on being a bookworm and why reading is so important to her...
Joiya, what is your passion?:
Do you have a favorite author? If so, Why?:
The universe if that counts :)
God created it and has set forth laws that can not be ignored and I feel it is likened to a book that can guide you infinitely.
What are your top 5 favorite books?:
- The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah
- The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
- The Bible
- Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire
- The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley
What influence have these books had on you?:
These books have been incredibly influential to who I have become because every single one of them led me in a path of critical evolution at the perfect moments. They've inspired me to continue educating myself, either about myself or about my history.
Is there a book that you would read over and over again?:
Yes, I read almost ALL books I like over again.
Joiya, why are books important to you?
I can be a bit extreme and when I go or commit to a place theoretically speaking, I like to really be there!
Books are important to me because they are capable of transporting through space and time and also provide context, whether it be historical context or a future context to flex your imagination.
What would be the title of your first book? Why?:
"The Little Hood That Could" It is an extension of my beliefs about the progress of black people in America. The Hood, especially the youth, always could, can and will.
Hope all enjoyed getting to know Joiya better :)
Make sure to give her a follow on her instagram accounts to keep up with what she is doing in the community.
Endless love always!!!
