Valencia, who is your favorite author? Why?:
My favorite author is Richard Wright because he paints vivid images and always ends with a twist.
What are some of your favorite books?:
Here are five of my favorite books:
- The Parable of the Sower - Octavia Butler
- Assata - Assata Shakur
- The Road Less Traveled - M. Scott Peck
- Harlem Girl Lost - Treasure E. Blue
- The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho
How have those books listed above influenced you?:
They gave me the voice I was missing.
Valencia, do you have a favorite quote? If so, what is it?:
Yes I do. It is "I have learned that I still have a lot to learn." - Maya Angelou
What was the reason you decided to publish your first book?:
The lack of an informed discourse around the abuse of power among government officials and police officers.
What inspired the name?:
I was reading a book of prayers and the words, "Lord, you heard my silent cries..." and those words inspired the title of "Soundless Cries Don't Lead to Healing".
What can we expect from you in the future?:
Many more books!
